Group 3 began their direct instruction lesson on Victory and Independence in the American Revolution.
The group conveyed a lot detailed information.
A good open quick review was used to access prior knowledge and get students ready for learning.
A powerpoint was used with starred (*) information that students placed into a graphic organizer.
The group focused on the final battles of the American Revolution and the students completed a Venn diagram to make comparisons.
Students completed review cards to provide for closure in the lesson.
Well Done:
- Good positive and specific praise was utilized through the lesson.
- The group tried to illicit more responses from students
- Nice brief review, good stops to check for understanding
To Make it even Better:
- Use less note writing
- More wait time for student interaction
- Teaching by all group members
- More focused and specific information in timeline
Overall the group developed and prepared a detailed lesson and students were engaged in the learning process.
I truly appreciate the opportunity to observe the teaching of others and have learned through it as much as I have conducting my own lessons.
